Students and staff at Delany College, Granville, Sydney dedicated an entire week to celebrating the joys and importance of reading. "Delany Reads Week" was held from 28 February to 7 March, with competitions, lunchtime literary readings and a book sale. the week culminated with a library open day on tuesday 6 March, when the college hosted a speaker and advocate for reading, Geoffrey Lee.
College Principal, Peter Wade said reading was a basic skill for life. "Reading is a skill like walking," he said, "Once we learn to walk we do not stop practicing it. Not so reading. we all need to practice, practic, practic, so we are as good at reading as we are at walking". 'Delany reads Week' is helping us teach students that it is vital to keep improving and challenging their reading skills".

This podcast was prepared for the K12 Online conference 2006. It tells the story of how I discovered blogging, and how I found blogging to be a highly effective medium for fostering a professional learning community as well as a personal learning environment.
In the space of 6 months I have gone from no blog, and no ideas, to working with a whole school system strategy for integration of Web 2.0 and blogging as an official tool for dialgoue and communication.
This is the first time that I have used Garage Band, so creating this podcast has also been a new learning experience for me.
